Michael Kors Perfume

Anyone who is a fan of the televison show Project Runway knows who Michael Kors is, fashion designer, entrepeneur, and laid back celebrity.

I was selected by the Elle Magazine Insider Circle to sample the new Michael Kors Perfume and received a deluxe sample in the mail last week. It is a floral scent with tuberose, peony, freesia and musk. I did find that the scent was noticeable until five to six hours after I applied it which is pretty much average for a good perfume. A woman's choice of perfume is a personal one and I found this perfume just was not right for me. I am not a huge fan of floral scents or musk. My taste in perfume runs towards the exotic and spicy; my two all time favorites are Opium Perfume by Yves Saint Laurent and Chance Perfume by Chanel. With that being said Michael Kors Perfume is not unpleasant or overpowering and it might be the right perfume for you if you like floral or musk scents. It costs $50. for a 1 oz bottle which is what you would expect to pay for a higher end perfume.

Disclaimer: I received a sample of Michael Kors Perfume from Elle Magazine for testing and review purposes. However I only recommend products that I would personally use and my opinions remain my own.

A MUCH NEEDED DAY OF BEAUTY

Things have been pretty hectic around the house lately. And I was cooped up in the house for six weeks with no vehicle while my husband's truck was being repaired. And I am always kind of blah towards the end of the long winters here in my little corner of PA.

So I booked an appointment with my hairdresser/nail technician/makeup expert Jaunna, of Jaunna Dittman's Hair and Nail Salon. If you are one of my local followers look her up on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jaunna-Dittmans-Hair-Nail-Salon. Jaunna has skills that are not common in this small rural area, she is really good with hair color and recently started doing Shellac nails.

One of my favorite things about getting my hair and nails done at Jaunna's is that my toddler is always welcome, he plays with her daughters while I am getting worked on and they never charge me! And Josh loves playing with his little friends.

So this afternoon off we went to Jaunna's. Jaunna's husband Lance recently graduated from beauty school and got his license. So while Jaunna colored my hair he cut Josh's hair (it was long overdue). Then Jaunna did a new set of acrylic nails with french tips and a design for me. When we left I felt refreshed and younger and Josh was very happy after playing with his friends for a few hours!
It took me many years to find a hairdresser I really like and I am glad I found Jaunna!

Doesn't every woman feel better after getting pampered for a day? I can't wait for my appointment in two weeks to get my nails filled and a pedicure so I'll be ready to wear my summer sandals!

THE 2012 LOVE VOX BOX!

Earlier this week I received my very first Vox Box from Influenster (a community of trendsetters who try new products and use their influence to share them with others). I felt honored to be chosen for a Vox Box, it is a community approaching almost 15,000 members and I just recently joined.

I opened my Vox Box and taped a YouTube video which you can watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qhj-y_pcTk

Inside this box were the following items and my opinions of them:

Stash Herbal Caffeine Free Tea. There are an assortment of flavors in this 18 count box of tea. I love the packaging, each flavor has a bright envelope and has a simple, clean design on it. When I sampled some of the tea I discovered that some of the flavors including the apple spice and raspberry turn a pretty red/pink color. I really like the Licorice Spice flavor, it tastes like licorice but it is not overpowering.
For more information on Stash Tea go to their website at: http://www.stashtea.com

Truvia Natural Sweetener. When I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during my last pregnancy I tried other sweeteners and settled on the one in the "yellow packet" as the best. At that time Truvia wasn't on the market, I wish it had been. It sweetens close to granulated sugar, just a little bit lighter, and I enjoyed it in my iced tea. You can read my review of Truvia below.

For more information on Truvia go to their website at: http://www.truvia.com

Kiss Nail Dress. This is a new product from Kiss Nails. I received the Cocktail pattern, a pretty pink with silver rhinestones. The Kiss Nail Dress are like a sticker for your nails, you just apply them to your nails, trim and file and you are done! They are a really quick easy way to do your nails and I especially loved putting them on my toe nails, you can see a YouTube video of how to apply them to your toenails here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGVPttTfK70

and you can check out a cute pin I made of Kiss Nail Dress here: http://pinterest.com/pin/286963807476569816/

Ghirardelli Creamy Devotion Milk Chocolate Bar. One word describes this chocolate, DIVINE!! I ate it within a half hour of receiving my Vox Box (with a little help from my 3 year old). The next day I went out and bought two more bars with the coupon that was enclosed in the Love Vox Box! It is silky, smooth, and melts in your mouth. Just sweet enough to be enjoyable but not too sweet!! Buy some for Easter presents and baskets, this really is a great chocolate bar!

To learn more about the Ghirardelli Creamy Devotion bar check them out here: http://www.ghirardelli.com

Gillette Venus & Olay Razor. Wow, try this razor now! I guarantee you will throw your current razor out! The really cool thing about receiving this beauty product in the Vox Box is that it is not available for sale in stores until March 15th, one of the perks of being an Influenster! It has moisturizing Olay lotion in the bars which makes using shaving cream obsolete and it has a five blade system like many men's razors! I actually used my husband's Gillette Fusion razor before, now I can use a woman's razor without getting nicked and cut! This razor hugs your curves and leaves your legs smooth, it has a very ergonomically friendly handle that you will love.
You can watch my review of the Gillette Venus & Olay razor here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAypAYNDhYk&list=HL1331435903&feature=mh_lolz

Check out the Gillette Venus & Olay razor on the Gillette Venus website: http://www.gillettevenus.com

If you are interested in joining Influenster go to http://www.influenster.com and sign up today! It is a great opportunity to try new products and share them with others.

Disclosure: I received samples of Truvia, Stash Tea, Ghirardelli Creamy Devotion Milk Chocolate, Gillette Venus & Olay Razor and Kiss Nail Dress from Influenster. My opinions remain my own.

Truvia Natural Sweetener Product Review

I recently had the opportunity to sample Truvia natural sweetener through the Influenster (a community of trendsetters who try new products and use their influence to share them with others) Love Vox Box program and found it to be a satisfying alternative to sugar.

Truvia is a natural sweetener derived from the leaves of the Stevia plant (a member of the chrysanthemum family). The main difference between Truvia and other sweeteners derived from the Stevia plant is the fact that Truvia is made from the part of the stevia plant that tastes the best, resulting in the best possible tasting natural sweetener.

I was surprised when I checked the Truvia website to see many products that I already use or have tried contain Truvia! Truvia is used as a sweetener in some of the following products: Tillamook Light Yogurt, Vitaminwater Zero, Firefly Skinny Tea, Velamints, All Sport Naturally Zero drinks, Crystal Light - Pure, Powerade Play and Dippin' Dots ice cream. It is gluten free and safe for diabetics to use.

Truvia is available at Whole Foods Market and most WalMart stores and it is also available in 40 count cartons and spoonable containers in their online store. A 40 count carton of Truvia retails for $3.99. Truvia recently introduced a baking mix which I would like to try with some of my cookie recipes.

A packet of Truvia equals two teaspoons of sugar. I tried the sample box provided by Influenster and found Truvia to be a nice alternative to sugar. It is just slightly less sweet than granulated sugar and has a light taste. Unlike some artificial sweeteners Truvia does not leave an aftertaste or alter the taste of food and drinks. I used it in my coffee, sprinkled it on my Special K cereal and mixed it in my nightly iced tea.

If you have health concerns such as diabetes Truvia is a great alternative. Even if you do not have health concerns Truvia is a great way to make a change towards better health by cutting out processed sugar from your diet. I would recommend that you try it and see what you think.

For more information about Truvia visit their website at: http://www.truvia.com. For more information about Influenster you can visit their website at http://www.influenster.com.

Disclosure: I received a sample of Truvia from Influenster. My opinions, however, remain my own.

Miss Jackie's Fashion No-No's

Dear Readers,

While I am certainly not a fashion expert like Tim Gunn or Mr. Blackwell there are a few fashion mistakes that I thought I would share with you:

1. Brassieres and underwear are called undergarments for a reason! They are meant to be worn UNDER your clothing and not see the light of day in public. No one really wants to see your thong underwear or full briefs sticking out of the top of your pants nor is it attractive to wear a tank top with your bra straps exposed. If you are wearing a sheer/see-through type shirt please wear a camisole underneath it!

2. If you choose to wear pantyhose with open toe shoes or sandals please wear "toeless" pantyhose. You can purchase them at many stores including JCPenney's and Wal-Mart.

3. If you live in a cold climate like I do please do not wear a long, ankle length type skirt with a jacket that only comes to your waist. Your coat should be the same length or longer than the hem line of your skirt/dress. I know a lot of people might not have money to invest in multiple jackets or coats but you can find a quality knee length or street length coat reasonably priced at the end of the winter season in late January and February that will last for many years if you take care of it.

4. Don't become a victim of "Camel Toe" (you can Google it if you don't know what the term means) Syndrome! Do not stuff yourself into too tight pants! If you must wear Spandex pants in public please wear a tunic type shirt lest you offend the eyes and sensibilities of others.

5. Always wear clean shoes! You do not need to own several pairs of shoes/boots to look nice, it is how you take care of them that matters. If your shoes are made of leather you can clean them up nicely with saddle soap and a brush, if they are vinyl or another synthetic material regular dish soap and a water will work fine.

Product Review - Woolite Complete

I recently had the opportunity to try a new product from Woolite, Woolite Complete. It is a detergent intended for use in washing everyday clothes and does a pretty effective job. If your clothes tend to fade after being washed then Woolite Complete is a product you must try! The name Woolite immediately brings to mind gentle washing and Woolite Complete does wash your clothes gently at the same time getting them clean! I tried Woolite Complete on various loads of laundry at my house including my toddler's mud stained and Play Doh caked clothes, my delicate silk suit, and some of my husband's work clothes. Every load came out clean and looking as new as when it went into the washer. I also found that Woolite Complete has a pleasant light scent that leaves your clothes smelling fresh.

My favorite pink silk suit that I trusted to Woolite Complete!

Disclosure: I received a 50 oz sample of Woolite Complete through the Smiley 360 program to try. My opinions remain my own
