6 Guidelines for Finding the Right Tights for Every Outfit by Cindy Prosser

This is a guest post by freelance writer Cindy Prosser who works with BareNecessities.com. I love to wear tights in the fall and winter and found some great tips in her article.

Dress to Impress: 6 Guidelines for Finding the Right Tights for Every Outfit

With fall right around the corner, now is a great time to brush up on the latest
fashion tips, including one of our favorite fall necessities: tights. Tights are a great
way to change up any outfit, whether you're going for a casual or professional look.

But how do you know what's the right look for you? Take a look at our hosiery
guidelines so you'll be sure to rock every fall outfit you wear.

Tip #1: Use tights to transition into the fall season.
If you have a bright, spring dress that you're not ready to give up on, try wearing
it with a pair of opaque black tights for a completely different look. Alternatively,
dress it up with a chunky cable knit sweater, black tights and heels for a distinctive
look. Just make sure to add a belt so you have a bit of shape to your outfit.

Tip #2: Don't be afraid to rock tights with shorts.
The first time I saw it, I was apprehensive too. The truth is, tights are a great way to
dress up a pair of your favorite shorts. If you're wearing denim, choose a bright pair
of tights and a solid colored shirt for a casual look. Or, sport black or gray tights with
a tweed pair of shorts and heels.

Tip #3: Tone down the color.
If you have a pair of tights that are just too bright and bold for you, tone them down
with a pair of sheer tights over top. This will help keep your legs warmer in the fall
weather and can also help you transition into the tights trend if you're not quite
ready for it.

Tip #4: Match your tights to a shirt.
Wearing a patterned skirt is a great opportunity to pull out one of the colors and
pair a solid-colored shirt with it. But, let's take it one step further and add black
tights to the mix for an exceptionally cute look. It'll not only help you pull the
look together, but it's something that can be worn whether you're going for a
professional or casual look.

Tip #5: White tights: Yes or no?
There's nothing wrong with wearing white tights – as long as you do it correctly. For
many women, white tights conjure up the image of an Easter dress worn as a little
girl. Try white tights with neutral colors like brown, beige, and tan – just make sure
your shoe is dark too!

Tip #6: Don't wear tights as pants.
Our sixth and final step is a big one – don't wear your tights as pants. If the
undergarment you're wearing has stocking feet, it must also have a skirt, pants, or
shorts paired with it. Don't be one of those women who wears a tunic with nothing
underneath! It's a definite fashion “don't” and should be avoided at all costs.

And there you have it, ladies! Keep in mind these tips while putting together your
fall wardrobe and you'll be wearing tights like a pro in no time.
